Slideshow: Examining Early Childhood Education

Twice in the past week, UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs Dean Franklin D. Gilliam, Jr. has discussed the importance of early childhood education with local and national leaders.

Last week Gilliam led a discussion with Congressman Mark Takano and Marcelo Suarez-Orozco, the Dean of UCLA’s Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. Then, on Monday, Gilliam moderated a panel chat with Newark Mayor Cory Booker and Alfred E. Osborne, Jr., the Associate Dean of UCLA’s Anderson School.

Takano represents the 41st District, which incorporates Riverside, Moreno Valley and Perris.

Booker spoke to a full ballroom about education.

Booker said “our greatest natural resource isn’t oil or gas; it’s the genius of human potential.”
